"Healthy Environment, Healthy Kids"

  • Numerous studies indicate that children who participate in outdoor activities are healthier, do better in school, have better social skills and self-image and lead more fulfilled lives.
  • Spending time outdoors, enjoying the natural environment, is a healthy and emotionally satisfying experience for children.
  • Participating in outdoor activities is an enjoyable way for children to get physical exercise, to enhance mental and social development and to gain an appreciation for Kentucky's natural areas and diverse wildlife.

The Energy and Environment Cabinet celebrates Earth Day. This year's  theme -- Healthy Environment, Healthy Kids -- highlights the connection between nature and health.
